Whether you like scuba diving sometimes or on a regular basis, you should know how to properly care for your equipment. When you return from a dive, most dive centers, like Scuba Divers at Scubo Resort, will clean your dive equipment for you, but taking care of it entails much more than rinsing it out with clean water.

If you’re utilizing your own equipment, this is extremely critical. Maintaining your diving equipment is critical if you want it to last as long as possible and function effectively. The first thing you’ll need to do is rinse all of your equipment in fresh water and let it dry.

Always keep in mind that you should never leave any of your equipment in direct sunlight. Rubber and neoprene decay and crack when exposed to sunlight for lengthy periods of time, so they should be kept out of the sun as much as possible. After you’ve cleaned everything, you’ll need to treat each piece of equipment differently.

Your regulator is a delicate piece of machinery that can be damaged quickly if water or moisture enters the first stage. To keep water out, make sure you put on your dust cap before you rinse. The low-pressure inflator must then be moved to remove any salt, grit, or sand.

You must not hit the purge button on the primary second stage throughout this procedure. Water will be able to enter the first level as a result of this. Because salt water can leak into your BCD, it will need to be cleaned both inside and out. You’ll need to use the low-pressure inflator to flush the BCD’s bladder with fresh water.

It’s critical to keep your scuba tank free of corrosion. To do so, you’ll need to keep salt out of the cylinder and remove sand and grit from around the tank valve. Your cylinder should only be partially filled and stored upright or horizontally

An empty tank is vulnerable to contamination, whereas a full tank can crack. If you don’t wash your wetsuit, boots, hoods, and gloves correctly, they can get pretty nasty. Wash the outside and interior of the neoprene with fresh water and then disinfect using a neoprene-specific disinfectant.
